Sometimes people make funny assumptions
Lately I’ve been carrying my camera around and people start questioning the purpose of doing so. I told them I’m ‘practicing’ but it wasn’t convincing enough.
Someone: “Photography need to practice one meh?”
I laughed it off before my sarcasm hurt someone but I’d really love to reply this -
Me: “Erm no, all I have to do is imagine my eyes are 14mm-42mm, retract or expand my iris from to F3.4 - F16, adjust my eye lids’ blinking speed accordingly and take mental pictures. Of course my retinal is different from a camera sensor so it can be an issue when I use a real camera in place. Oh and, my eyes’ metering mode and white balance is different from my camera’s as well but hey, I can save up on shutter counts this way.”
I’ve run into the same response more than once and no, I’m not trying to shoot anyone down.
Very so often we hang on to ideal principles and representations of ourselves that when reality visits us with less ideal situations, our ideal principles and representations we persistantly hang on to are no more than inflexibility and stubbornness.
It’s not the tools that shapes the beauty of a craft man’s work; writing with a Mont Blanc doesn’t mean you automatically write bestsellers.
Meeting people is much like pages on a web. If you like it, chances are you’d bookmark it and check back periodically. And when it disagrees with you someday, you delete this bookmark and clear history, cache, cookies and forget about it entirely.
‘Fate’ is the set of circumstances presented to you in life. ‘Destiny’ is the road you’re bound to take in life. ‘Decision’ is the choice you make in life. ‘Fate’ and ‘Destiny’ may be predetermined but ‘Decision’ will always be exclusive to nobody but you; to follow or not to follow - you decide.
